“You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; you have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness.” (Psalm 30:11)
“Now as the ark of the Lord came into the City of David, Michal, Saul’s daughter, looking out the window and saw King David leaping and whirling before the Lord; and she despised him in her heart.” (2 Samuel 6:16)
I was in a meeting the other day, the speaker got up to speak and the first thing he said was, “I want everyone to get up and tell at least five people that you are glad that they are here today.” As everyone found their seats again, the speaker said, “did you feel the energy that was in the room?”
The speaker had energized us. The definition of energize is to impart energy, to make energetic or vigorous. The synonym for energize is vitality which means to distinguish between the living and the non-living. This is what God does for us when He comes into our life. He energizes us. He gives us energy. He makes us alive! Just as King David danced, He makes us dance. When God comes into our life we are made alive and we want to dance.
Then what happens? Michal comes into our life and tells us that we have nothing to dance for. Don’t listen to the Michals in your life. The reason they are telling you that is because they have nothing to dance about. God has not energized them, but all they have to do is ask and they can dance.
With God in our life we can keep dancing into eternity. I want to be like David, I want to dance before God and I want that feeling of energy in my life. Don’t you?
