I am living in a world that I don’t recognize. I am soon to be seventy-three and this is not the world that I grew up in. I grew up in a small southern town. It was a place where we felt safe and I could ride my bicycle any where in town without any worries. Nearly everyone that I grew up with had some connection with a church. I praise God that I still live in a town that is similar to the town I grew up in. The problem is the world outside of my small world is evil. We see God begin told to leave our nation. We see support for abortion. We see Satan working hard to destroy our nation. During this year I have watched our nation fall apart. In March we went into lockdown with the pandemic. As we came out of the lockdown, we saw riots in the streets. Now we are in an election year. This is an election year like we never seen before. At times I wonder what the future will hold. In the last few years, I have been trusting Jesus more and more. This year there is no doubt that I have learned to trust Jesus. There are moments that I think, what we going to do if it all falls apart. Then Jesus touches my heart and I have the peace that passes all understanding. Yes, more than anything else we need to trust that Jesus knows best and that He will take care of us. In order to have the trust that we need we need to do somethings. This scripture in Joel tells us all we need to know to change the course of our nation. Not just our nation, but our lives also.
“The Lord is at the head of the column. He leads them with a shout. This is his mighty army, and they follow his orders. The day of the Lord is an awesome, terrible thing. Who can possibly survive? That is why the Lord says, “Turn to me now, while there is time. Give me your hearts. Come with fasting, weeping, and mourning. Don’t tear your clothing in your grief, but tear your hearts instead.” Return to the Lord your God, for he is merciful and compassionate, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. He is eager to relent and not punish.” (Joel 2:11-13)
Please be in prayer for our nation!
