“When he had spoken such words to me, I turned my face toward the ground and became speechless. And suddenly, one having the likeness of the sons of men touched my lips; then I opened my mouth and spoke, saying to him who stood before me, “My lord, because of the vision my sorrows have overwhelmed me, and I have retained no strength. For how can this servant of my lord talk with you, my lord? As for me, no strength remains in me now, nor is any breath left in me.” Daniel 10:15-17
The vision that Daniel was about to receive was more that Daniel could take. On top of the vision Daniel was talking to God. Israel when Moses went on the mountain to talk to God, they did not want to hear God’s voice. “Then they said to Moses, “You speak with us, and we will hear; but let not God speak with us, lest we die.” (Exodus 20:19) When we communion with God we need to realize the vast distance between us and the holy angels. How can we that are nothing but dust speak to the Lord of glory? We can only approach the throne of God by the Cross of Jesus Christ. Habakkuk questions God and when God answered he realized the power of God. “I trembled inside when I heard this; my lips quivered with fear. My legs gave way beneath me, and I shook in terror. I will wait quietly for the coming day when disaster will strike the people who invade us.” (Habakkuk 3:16) The power of God is derived from pure holiness, it does not have its origin in physical bodies, but in the spirit. “For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.” (John 4:24) We tremble in the presence of holiness because none of us have pure holiness. So that we can be in the presence of God, we will have a glorified body, just as Jesus Christ had.
