“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” (Ephesians 6:12)
“The French Foreign Legion is world famous for its esprit de corps and daredevil spirit. It has a motto: “If I falter – push me. If I stumble – pick me up. If I retreat – shoot me.” A far cry from the soft, silken ways of the average Christian of today.” (Leonard Ravenhill) We are in a battle that is getting harder every day. Satan is fighting me harder than he has in years. My friends we are called to be warriors in God’s Army. We are not called to just go to church on Sunday. We are called to fight evil and the darkness of this world 24 hours a day 7 days a week. In Ephesians 6:10 -18, Paul tells us how we are to fight Satan. This is an outline of our weapons that we are to use. In the next few devotions I will be writing on each of these weapons. Prayer > God’s Word > Hope of Salvation > Faith > Peace > The Truth of the Gospel which is that Jesus is our Salvation and we have victory because of Him.
The first of these is prayer. Prayer is so important and can be used both on the offence and the defense. This is the weapon that we seem to use the least and we should use the most.
We don’t pray enough. We don’t get alone with God enough and be in His presence enough. We pray when we have trouble. This is not bad; we should ask God for help when we need Him, because He loves us and wants to help, but He wants our fellowship at other times also. Satan knows that prayer is important, so he will try in every way to keep us from praying. He knows that there is power in our prayers.
