“My wayward children,” says the Lord, “come back to me, and I will heal your wayward hearts.” “Yes, we’re coming,” the people reply, “for you are the Lord our God.” Jeremiah 3:22
Jeremiah continues to call the people back to God. He has a burden for the people. This is the burden that we need for people. Our world today is much like the world that Jeremiah lived in. It was a world that showed no respect for God and His ways. The people felt that the ways of the world was the right way. Today we are looking to our government to cure our problems. This will never happen, only returning to God and depending on Him will change our lives and our nation.
Do you believe that somewhere in this life, there are people who walk through this world living the life that God meant for us? A life of peace and trust in God. They are surrounded by the problems of old age, poverty, sickness, grief, pain, hatred, and loneliness. Yet, their spirit is a spirit of life and peace. No matter what comes at them, no matter what kind of catastrophe falls on their life, inside they are filled with life and peace. To live in the dimension of the Spirit is life and peace. To live in our own kingdom is death. This is what Jeremiah was talking about when he wrote, I will heal your heart. The greatest cry of God today is to heal our wayward heart. We must humble ourselves and give control of our lives over to God and then we will know God’s healing in our life.
“If anyone wishes to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow me.” (Luke 9:23)
“For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.” (Romans 8:5-6)
