“I saw that one of the heads of the beast seemed wounded beyond recovery—but the fatal wound was healed! The whole world marveled at this miracle and gave allegiance to the beast.” Revelation 13:3
This event will help the Antichrist solidify his hold on the world. John saw one of his heads as if it had been slain, and his fatal wound was healed. This statement could refer to one of the kingdoms that was destroyed and revived, the Romans Empire. But more likely it refers to a fake death and resurrection enacted by the Antichrist, as part of his lying deception. “This man will come to do the work of Satan with counterfeit power and signs and miracles.” (2 Thessalonians 2:9) His brilliance and attractive, but deluding, powers will cause the world to follow him unquestioned. People in the world will be astounded and fascinated when the Antichrist appears to rise from the dead. “He will use every kind of evil deception to fool those on their way to destruction, because they refuse to love and accept the truth that would save them. So God will cause them to be greatly deceived, and they will believe these lies.” (2 Thessalonians 2:10-11)The antichrist is going to give a counterfeit impression to the world. He will Imitates the Messiah with the intention to deceive or defraud. He will go into the Holy of Holies and proclaim himself to be God, the Messiah.
Whether his death is real or fake is not clear. It may be that the Antichrist is really killed and God allows him to be resurrected. More likely, Antichrist’s alleged death and resurrection will be counterfeit of Christ’s death and resurrection, staged, as one of the lying wonders perpetrated by the false prophet. Whatever happens, people will believe that Antichrist has transcended death at an equaled level, Antichrist’s apparent power over death will win him widespread acclaim. As a result, the whole earth will be amazed and follow after the beast.
